How a Vinco tech actually diagnoses
- 01
Gauges and temperature clamps. Suction and head pressure, subcooling, superheat. The difference between low on charge and metering device failing lives in these four numbers, and guessing wrong wastes a compressor.
- 02
Micron gauge. After any refrigerant-side repair, the system pulls down to a measured vacuum before recharge. If it will not hold, there is still a leak. No exceptions.
- 03
Static pressure and airflow. A manometer across the air side finds the duct and filter problems that get misdiagnosed as refrigerant problems.
- 04
Insulation resistance and electrical measurement. Motor windings, contactor condition, voltage on every leg. On a recent hotel chiller plant we measured 199 volts on one leg and reported it as flagged, not as the cause, because one leg is not a diagnosis.
- 05
Controller fault history. On VRF systems the centralized controller logs every fault. We read the history and walk the communication bus before anyone replaces a compressor. A fault code is a protection event, not a diagnosis.
