I will be upfront: this is Vinco's own thread, so of course I am going to say hire us. What is actually useful is the checklist, because it protects you whether you pick us or someone else.
For a SoHo job specifically, ask any contractor:
1. NYC DOB license number, and check it. Ours is DOB #022359. A lot of "HVAC guys" working lofts are not licensed for the permit work SoHo buildings need.
2. Cast-iron and landmark experience. SoHo loft buildings have old risers, thick walls, and landmark facades. Condenser placement and line-set routing are not standard here. Ask for a SoHo or Cast Iron District job they can point to.
3. Co-op and condo alteration agreements. Most SoHo work goes through a board. A contractor who has never filed an alteration agreement or pulled a DOB permit will stall your job for months.
4. Real references and insurance. $2M/$4M general liability minimum, and a couple of building references you can actually call.
